Zongshen Cyclone RX6 revealed at Auto Shanghai 2021; uses Norton engine
Zongshen, a China-based motorcycle maker, took the wraps off its new adventure bike at the Auto Shanghai 2021. Christened Cyclone RX6, there are some interesting things about this motorcycle. First, it looks a little like Yamaha Tracer 9 but most people will be able to tell the two bikes apart. The second interesting bit about Zongshen Cyclone RX6 is its engine, which has been provided by Norton Motorcycles. The Chinese adventure bike uses a 650 cc, parallel twin-cylinder engine that puts out around 70 bhp and 62 Nm of peak torque. This powerplant is being used on Norton Atlas Ranger as well as Nomad. Now, it may interest you to know that Zongshen and Norton had joined hands in 2017 as part of which the iconic British motorcycle maker was to provide a 650 cc engine block which the Chinese brand could tweak according to its purposes. And given that this deal was initiated before TVS acquired Norton last year, the arrangement between Zongshen and Norton stands unaffected. Now, Zongshen Cyclone RX6 is available in two variants, one of which is a touring-biased variant with alloy wheels and short travel suspension. The other one, is more suitable for offroading purposes and gets wire-spoke rims and with long-travel suspension. (Image source: Visordown)The details about Cyclone RX6 are still sparse but reports mention that the ADV will use Kayaba suspension, braking duties will be tended to by Nissin callipers, and the dual-channel ABS will be supplied by Bosch. And for tyres, the Chinese brand has partnered with Pirelli. Zongshen Cyclone RX6 comes with provisions like a TFT instrument panel for all the essential readouts, keyless ignition, and electrically adjustable windscreen. Now, the Cyclone RX6 is currently announced for the Asian markets and we expect it to go on sale in India, although not anytime soon.
