Ludhiana: In an appalling incident reported from Ludhiana in Punjab, a 60-year-old man allegedly brutally hacked his 55-year-old wife to death with a knife, and then called up the police to report the crime.Police said the accused, identified as Ramesh Kumar, is a truck driver while his now-deceased wife, identified as Jaswinder Kaur, used to work as a domestic help. Kumar, a drunkard, often assaulted Kaur. He also harassed her for money to buy liquor, as he was not earning anything of late.On Thursday, Kumar allegedly stabbed Kaur several times with a knife that he purchased a day ago. Kaur sustained serious injuries that resulted in her death. Later, Kumar phoned the police and confessed to the crime. He also called up the victim’s nephew to inform him about the incident, according to a report by The Indian Express.The victim’s nephew, identified as Sanjiv Kumar, said that he came rushing to the couple’s residence in Kailash Nagar locality in Ludhiana’s Basti Jodhewal area. He found the accused sitting near the victim’s body. “We rushed to the spot and found him sitting next to her body,” the report quoted Sanjiv as saying.In another incident, a man allegedly branded his wife with a "super hot' spatula on her left cheek and both hands at their residence in Mumbai's Powai, as he suspected that she was having an affair with a neighbourhood man. According to the police, on March 6, the accused, Ravishankar Chauhan, came back home returned home in an inebriated state. He picked up an argument with his wife Puja, accusing her of having an illicit affair with Karan Rajbhar. After she took objection to his accusations, he branded her with a hot spatula. The affected woman later lodged a complaint against Chauhan. On the basis of her complaint, the police registered a case and arrested him.
