No T20 World Cup 2020: What's happening to the much-speculated international return of MS Dhoni?
MS Dhoni has just turned 39. The former captain of India, which won the World Cup, has gone more than a year without playing competitive cricket. Nevertheless, the international future of Dhoni has been a topic of intense speculation and over the last few months has dominated discussions around Indian cricket. MS Dhoni had kept quiet about his future and even told a group of reporters not to ask him anything until January 2020, when he was questioned late last year on it. About half of 2020, though, has gone by and there are just speculations and rumors going on. Apart from the strongly-worded rebuttal of his wife Sakshi Dhoni of retiring from the latest round of rumors, there is no clarity about the much-talked-about subject. Dhoni's time away from rival cricket Dhoni was not on the central list of contracts announced in January by the Cricket Control Board of India (BCCI). The former captain of India took a Sabbatical right after World Cup and joined the Jammu Territorial Army, training for 2 weeks with the 106 TA (Para) Battalion.
As Dhoni joined in and led a pre-Indian Premier League 2020 training camp for Chennai Super Kings in March, he indicated his intentions. The camp was called off however because of the novel coronavirus pandemic before the IPL was suspended until further notice. Dhoni had been preparing in the run up to IPL 2020 but with the April-May window missing from the T20 league, doubt about his future has only increased.
