A In the midst of continuing conflict with China along the Line of Actual Control (LAC), India has now deployed its Ladakh Special Forces units for operational roles, if any.
"For special forces units have been transferred to the Ladakh area from different locations in the country where they are already doing exercises," government sources told Aajtak and India Today. Special Forces units played a key role in the 2017 surgical strikes against Pakistan-based terror camps and sources added that they can be used effectively on the Chinese front if and when necessary.
Most recent reports suggest that Units of Special Forces have already been deployed in eastern Ladakh along forward locations. Troops have been fully aware of the positions they would be expected to play in the event of escalating tensions with China.
India has more than 12 Special Forces regiments which train on different terrains and have established desert, mountain and jungle terrain specializations. The units deployed by the Special Forces in Jammu and Kashmir regularly conduct war games in high altitude areas in and around Leh.
During the 2017 surgical strikes, Indian Army Special Forces had destroyed several launch pads near the Line of Control ( LOC) while raiding them.
A number of terrorists had been attacked and killed by soldiers, along with Pakistan Army forces who were charged with training and guiding them through different routes to India.
India and China are currently engaged in a military confrontation at eastern Ladakh along the LAC. Conflicts have been high after a violent face-off between Indian Army soldiers and People's Liberation Army (PLA) troops in the Galwan Valley resulted in casualties on both sides.
