Foreign Medical Graduate Examination, FMGE 2021 exam is scheduled to be conducted on June 18, 2021. The Delhi High Court today has dismissed a plea seeking postponement of the FMGE 2021 screening test on account of COVID 19.The PIL was filed by the Association of MD Physicians at Delhi High Court to postpone FMGE 2021 exam to a later date. After hearing the parties, the Delhi HC Bench chaired by Justice Amit Bansal said, "I am not inclined. Dismissed."The petitioner told the Court that the eligible foreign medical graduates are being forced to appear for the FMGE 2021 exam on June 18, while putting themselves and people around them at risk of contracting COVID 19. They appealed the court to take a decision keeping in mind the safety of the students.The Association was expecting FMGE 2021 exam to get delayed by a month to enable the aspirants to get them vaccinated for COVID19 in the meantime. Association of MD Physicians members includes Foreign Medical Graduates who have completed their primary medical courses in premier medical education institutions across the world i.e., outside India. On the other hand, the Supreme Court today has directed AIIMS to postpone the INI CET 2021 examination at least by one month.In accordance with the Indian Medical Council Act and Screening Test Regulations 2002, persons possessing medical qualifications awarded by a foreign institution are required to qualify the FMGE Screening Test in order to receive recognition for their medical qualifications and to be registered to the State medical Councils to practice medicine in India.
