German tennis star Alexander Zverev is being bashed by a segment of the tennis fraternity after being seen clubbing in a private club in Monte Carlo at a time when he was supposed to be in quarantine after taking part in the ill-fated Adriatic Tour.
Photos and clips of Alexander Zverev partying at the packed club with seemingly no social distancing guidelines were widely shared on social media have generated a stir in the tennis fraternity particularly after fellow tennis players checked Covid-19 positively after their appearances at the Adriatic Tour organized by Novak Djokovic.
Zverev, unlike Novak Djokovic's likes, Girgor Dimitrov, Borna Coric and Victor Troikic, screened negative for Covid-19 after the Belgrade and Zadar Adriatic Tour before the cancelation of the final leg scheduled for Bosnia.
Last week, Zverev took to twitter to apologize for taking part in the Adriatic Tour and said he would be in isolation and follow all the medical instructions.
"I apologize profoundly to everyone who by playing this tour I have potentially put at risk," Zverev said in a statement.
"I will continue to follow the self-insulating guidelines advised by our doctors. My team and I will carry on regular testing as a further precaution."
