JioMart app operated by Reliance has now become India's # 1 grocery delivery service. According to JioMart 's latest reported figures, they now offer 4 lakh orders a day, which is substantially higher than Grofers and Big Basket, and Amazon, too.
Though Grofers delivers roughly 190,000 orders a day (April 2020), Big Basket delivers 2,8 lakh orders a day (April 2020). We don't have the numbers of Amazon's Grocery Delivery Service, but they are now available in 100 markets, under Amazon Pantry.
Reliance said, "Grocery witnessed strong consumer momentum as stores remained open, albeit with operational and product constraints to be sold. In addition to continued momentum in staples, categories such as hygiene products and packaged foods have led particularly well to higher bill values.
JioMart has hit one million Android downloads already.
How Did JioMart Became #1 Grocery Delivery App?
JioMart is now available across 200 Indian cities relative to other retail providers, offering grocery supplies from nearby kirana stores and their own Reliance Hypermarket and Reliance Fresh outlets.
This huge expansion of their own outlets and a strong alliance with local kirana stores may be the key reason JioMart has now been able to increase their regular orders to 4 lakh.
Mukesh Ambani had said during their 43rd Annual General Meeting: "JioMart's USP is its smart store price pledge. JioMart provides competitive critical prices with a minimum discount of 5 per cent on all goods.
The lockdown, and the pandemic too seems to have helped JioMart, and all other grocery delivery apps.
While BigBasket delivered 1.5 lakh daily orders, they now deliver 2.8 lakhs (April 2020), and although Grofers delivered 100,000 daily orders, they now deliver 1.9 lakh daily orders.
How JioMart moves into traditional ecommerce and how they can challenge Flipkart and Amazon would be very important to observe.
